Ever since the Veyron was introduced in 2005, the W16 engine has been the beating heart of every Bugatti. The roadgoing car that brings the W16 era to an end was always destined to be special: exclusive, elegant and powerful. It must be the very best of its kind. This is W16 Mistral: the ultimate roadster.
During this past week’s Monterey Car Week, Bugatti introduced this latest masterpiece to dealers, clients and the world.
Mate Rimac, Bugatti Rimac CEO, said: “For the final roadgoing appearance of Bugatti’s legendary W16 engine, we knew we had to create a roadster. Well over 40% of all Bugatti vehicles ever created have been open-top in design, establishing a long lineage of performance icons that – to this day – are revered the world over. In the Chiron1 era there had, to-date, been no roadster, so the introduction of W16 Mistral2 continues this legacy, driven by enormous demand from our clients for an all-new way to experience the mighty performance of our iconic engine. The W16 Mistral opens the next chapter in the Bugatti roadster story, inspired by over a century of open top legends.”
For a car as evocative and important as this, great consideration went into the badge it should wear. Far more than simply a development of the Chiron, the roadster needed a name associated with freedom, elegance and speed. Inspiration came from the mistral, a powerful wind that blows from the Rhône River valley, through the chic towns of the Côte d’Azur in southern France and into the Mediterranean. And with the engine so central to this roadster’s character, it stands side-by-side with this mighty wind: W16 Mistral.
Only 99 examples of the W16 Mistral will be built, priced at 5 million euros net, with deliveries due to begin in 2024. The entire production run of W16 Mistral is already sold out. Texas will receive one of these.

Coming soon to our Bugatti Boutique at Post Oak Motor Cars is the new Bugatti smartwatch by Viita.
New Bugatti smartwatch range, created with VIITA Watches, mirrors the unrivaled precision, artistry, and technology synonymous with Bugatti hyper sports cars crafted in Molsheim.
Each of the new Bugatti smartwatch models offers an innumerable amount of technical features, among them 90 different sports, your level of oxygen in the blood, your acceleration, and specifically for the Bugatti watch a GPS tracking mode. To quickly adjust to new technologies and customer demands, VIITA has developed its own software.
Wide-ranging personalization is central to the Bugatti experience. And so the wearer has the option to affix a tailored Bugatti rubber wrist strap for ultimate comfort, or a bespoke titanium strap to complement the titanium theme of the case. The Bugatti Ceramique Edition One Pur Sport, Bugatti Ceramique Edition One Le Noire and Bugatti Ceramique Edition One Divo editions can each be further customized with a unique bezel to reflect the customer’s personal style.
Every example is made by hand with meticulous attention to detail, produced by a team of renowned IT and watch-experts leading to a seamless integration of more than 1,000 individual parts. The outcome represents the same engineering excellence which Bugatti’s own hyper sports cars stand for.
The bezel – located at the most exposed point on a watch – is carefully sculpted and milled from scratch-resistant ceramic to the smallest of tolerances, made possible by an ultra-precise CNC process. The bezels for all three models are made of scratch-resistant ceramic, elaborately finished by hand in a production process lasting 20 days. With the special key supplied, the customer can replace a bezel within one minute.
With a water resistance of 100 meters (10 ATM) the Bugatti Ceramique Edition One is perfect for swimming, showering, snorkeling and scuba-diving.
Each smartwatch offers a battery life of up to 14 days between charges, made possible by a custom-built 445mAh power cell. Coupled with a high definition 390×390 pixel LED touchscreen within a scratch-resistant housing of sculpted sapphire glass, 16.7 million colors pierce through the display for definitive clarity.
The Bugatti smartwatch is offering almost as many features as the Chiron electronic data. Among them the measuring of health data. A new dual-sensor measures both heart rate and heart rate variability to report individual health data. Cardiovascular recovery, training recommendations, biological age and stress level measurements are each generated and supported by VO2Max; the data corresponds for use in over 90 sports.
The GPS sensor has been specially developed for the Bugatti smart-watch and houses among the watch’s 1,000 intricately packaged components, which provides an entirely new level of accuracy and resolution rate. Wearers taking it to the racetrack can have their lap times, and acceleration values logged automatically by the GPS sensor. This feature is applied for the first time in the world in a smartwatch to correspond to Bugatti’s uniquely fast and powerful hyper sports cars.
VIITA Watches is a leader in smartwatch and timepiece design. The company was founded in 2012, with its luxury watch division launched five years later. Just like Bugatti, VIITA prioritizes high quality and cutting-edge technology as the leading attributes of its peerless products.
Today, Rimac Automobili announces another major milestone in its history, as it combines forces with the iconic automotive brand, Bugatti Automobiles, to create a new automotive and technological powerhouse.
In just 10 years, Rimac Automobili has progressed from a one-man garage start-up to announcing a new company with one of the world’s most iconic car brands to create Bugatti Rimac d.o.o. (in English – LLC).
In an industry evolving at ever-increasing speed, flexibility, innovation, and sustainability remain at the very core of Rimac’s operations. The Croatian-based brand has proven that it can not only keep up but be the trailblazer, setting the performance and technological benchmark for others. Uniting Rimac’s technical expertise and lean operations with Bugatti’s 110-year heritage of design and engineering prowess represents a fusion of leading automotive minds.
As part of the deal, the newly-formed Rimac Group will be the major shareholder with a 55% stake. Mate Rimac will retain his original shareholding in Rimac Group at 37%, with Porsche at 24%, Hyundai Motor Group doing the same at 12% and other investors at 27%. The development, production and supply of battery systems, drivetrains and other EV components that Rimac is known for and trusted by many automotive manufacturers will be separated into a new entity – Rimac Technology, which will be 100% owned by the Rimac Group. Rimac Technology will remain an independent company working with many global car manufacturers.
Mate Rimac will lead the new company. As CEO of Rimac Group, he will run both Bugatti Rimac and the new division, Rimac Technology. Bugatti and Rimac will both continue as separate respective brands, retaining existing production facilities and distribution channels. Bugatti Rimac represents the company that will develop the future of both Bugatti and Rimac vehicles, by joining resources and expertise in research and development, production, and other areas.
Rimac Group will continue to innovate, creating both its own hypercars, as well as developing systems and technologies for many global OEMs. Such innovative technology can also be deployed in future Bugatti and Rimac models.
Both brands will continue to operate independently, with Rimac Automobili retaining its current premises on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia, and Bugatti production continuing in Molsheim, France.
In time, Bugatti Rimac’s global headquarters will be situated at the recently announced Rimac Campus, also serving as the home of Rimac Technology. The €200M, 100,000m2 campus, due to open in 2023, will be the base for all research and development of future Rimac and Bugatti hypercars. With high-tech innovation at its core, the state-of-the-art site will accommodate 2,500 like-minded people driven by curiosity and a desire to push things to the absolute limit.

In addition to technology, Rimac is contributing new development and organizational approaches.”
Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT at Porsche AG. “We bought the first shares in Rimac already three years ago and have successively increased them since then. Rimac is helping us with its know-how to successfully lead an emotional and important Group brand into the future. Tradition is one of the core pillars of Bugatti. Bugatti is launching the new “La Maison Pur Sang” program to enable even better care for the historical vehicles in the future. For the first time, the French luxury brand presented the new offer for the certification and restoration of classic Bugatti automobiles at the Rétromobile Motorshow in Paris, the annual international exhibition of classic vehicles.
The New “La Maison Pur Sang” Program “Bugatti vehicles have always been special automobiles. Exceptional design, outstanding performance and the latest technology characterize each Bugatti,” emphasizes Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. “In order to allow owners to experience and enjoy the outstanding technology flawlessly, we have decided to provide intensive support in our factory with the “La Maison Pur Sang” program.” Luigi Galli, a new specialist for Tradition and Certification at Bugatti, has been in charge of this special task since September. In his role, he is the first point of contact for customers of historic Bugatti automobiles and the various Bugatti clubs.
The program is being rolled out gradually, based on the certification of the authenticity of historic cars. The genuineness of an automobile is determined by Luigi Galli and his team of experts through intensive research of all available information – historical documents, admission registers, photo documents, or even the comparison of certain component numbers.
After successive stages of expansion, the restoration of historic automobiles from Bugatti will also be carried out in the future. “Tradition and history are a great privilege, but also a great responsibility for us. We are always faced by it. We’re conscious of our 110+ years of tradition and want to enable many of our historical vehicles to continue to drive perfectly on the road or to be in collections even after decades,” explains Stephan Winkelmann. “With ‘La Maison Pur Sang’ we offer an official framework for these automotive treasures. It is very important to protect and preserve Bugatti’s tradition and heritage, as well as the existing knowledge of the brand. ”
